Why Health Equity is Vital for Black Californians

There is a lot of talk these days about health equity the idea that evveryone should have access to the same high-quality health care, regardless of race or ethnicity. But unfortunately, this isn’t always the reality. Black Californians are disproportionately affected by several health conditions, and they often don’t have equal access to quality care. This needs to change. We need to work together to advance Black health equity and ensure that all Black Americans can enjoy good health.

A survey administered in 2018 titled “Listening to Mothers in California” examined if Black mothers and birthing people are listened to in the healthcare system. The result was that the majority were not being heard, resulting in health complications and sometimes mortality.

We hope this blog post has inspired you to learn more about Black health equity and stay engaged in the movement for change. There are many ways to get involved, and we encourage you to explore our website to find out how you can make a difference. Thank you for your support!
